X-Blades is an anime-inspired hack-and-slash action game, featuring a heroine armed with guns, blades, and magic.

One guess as to how many games are packed in Family Party.
At D3's press event in San Francisco, we had the opportunity to play almost half of the minigames in Family Party: 30 Great Games. The games are similar to what you would see in a Japanese game show, so there were bridges to fall from, paper to jump through, and, of course, giant blue helmets to protect everyone's noggins should they lose their balance. Up to four players can abuse each other in these minigames, so we jumped right in to see what this game had to offer.....More

Midway's first all-new Mortal Kombat installment on the Xbox 360 and PS3 throws down against comic foes next month.
It has been a dubious proposition from the beginning. How can Midway make a new Mortal Kombat game that lacks the franchise's seemingly requisite guts, gore, and excruciating executions? Today, Midway revealed just when gamers will learn the answer to that question, saying that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will arrive for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America on November 16, with the European release following on November 21....More
We sit down with Creative Assembly to discuss its anticipated strategy game. Prepare for war.
Some strategy games have you focus on building an empire and managing trade and diplomacy with other budding civilizations (before squashing them with your military might). Other strategy games focus on real-time battles where quick management of resources and weaponry will decide your fate. The Total War series from Creative Assembly successfully fuses real-time strategy and empire building, and the upcoming Empire: Total War is its most ambitious project yet. We sat down with Kieran Brigden, Creative Assembly's studio communications manager, for the latest on Empire: Total War. Here's what he had to say.

Take Streets of Rage and add a healthy dose of scantily clad schoolgirls, and you have Eloquent Fist.
TOKYO--The side-scrolling beat-'em-up has been something of a neglected genre in recent years in Europe and the US, but it has been fairly well served in Japan, particularly when it comes to anime titles.
Ikki Tousen: Eloquent Fist is based on the slightly risque anime Ikki Tousen, which centres around the tribulations of a number of high schools constantly at war with one another on the streets of Tokyo and the surrounding area. Some of these characters have been imbued with the spirits of ancient Chinese warriors, and so possess superhuman fighting abilities....More

Blizzard's Rob Pardo reveals sci-fi RTS will now be three separate products; Terran campaign Wings of Liberty will arrive first.
ANAHEIM, California--For many, this morning's keynote address from Blizzard president Mike Morhaime was a bit anticlimactic. After revealing Starcraft II, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and Diablo III at three consecutive events, Blizzard had nothing new to report on a new game from the company. That changed during the Starcraft II panel, as Blizzard's Rob Pardo revealed that rather than a single real-time strategy game, Starcraft II will now be released as a trilogy....More

When we last checked out Afro Samurai, the stylish, brutal beat-'em-up from Namco Bandai Games, we told you what it was like to carve our way across feudal Japan in our hands-on impression. During a recent visit to Namco Bandai's Japanese headquarters, we saw a newer build of Afro Samurai that featured a revamped control system. Though we weren't able to get our hands on the new controls, we were treated to another brutal demo of Afro's blade-brandishing ballet. The cel-shaded game continues to visually impress, and the innards of freshly hewn enemies glistened and oozed, much to our morbid delight. If that sort of thing tickles your fancy, you'll definitely want to watch the following video. It contains the full demo (complete with an informative voice-over interview) and features Afro battling his way across a narrow bridge en route to confront one of his many nemeses....More

X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, O! We wear our button fingers down to a nub in this sequel to the sci-fi combat game.
TOKYO--Last year's Dynasty Warriors: Gundam started its life in Japan as Gundam Musou, a sci-fi take on the immensely popular (in Japan, anyway) Dynasty Warriors. Taking the place of traditional Chinese heroes and their thousands of onscreen minions, however, were another staple of Japanese pop culture: huge, armed mechs known as Gundams. The series did well enough to spawn a sequel, and today we took some time in the Sony booth to check out the PlayStation 3 version of Gundam Musou 2....More
